Heat is the amount of energy flowing from one body to another spontaneously due to their temperature difference, or by any means other than through work or the transfer of matter. The transfer can be by contact between the source and the destination body, as in conduction; or by radiation between remote bodies; or by way of an intermediate fluid body, as in convective circulation; or by a combination of these. In contrast, a body indeed has properties (State functions) such as temperature and internal energy. The book sets out the fundamentals of Heat Engineering. It is intended as a textbook for university engineering students. It is designed especially for extra-mural and correspondence students and others working on their own. This book contains 15 chapters. Each chapter has been written in simple and lucid language. The concepts of the chapters have been described in step by step method to understand the concept easily by the students. It will be found to be useful by all engineering students reading a course in general Heat Engineering. Brief Contents: Part 1.
